Begin at the beautiful Koura Waterfall before trekking through dense World Natural Heritage rainforest filled with rare, endemic wildlife and vibrant plant life. Ascend into Mt. Yuwan’s misty cloud forest and visit the ancient summit shrine, with sweeping panoramic views over Amami.

 

Lunch

Enjoy a Uken Village lunch box and island herbal tea made with local herbs and Mt. Yuwan spring water — a simple, authentic taste of Amami.

Afternoon
Discover an ancient forest site once used by villagers for food storage and hunting, offering a close look at how people have lived with Amami’s mountains for centuries.
