FAQ – Amami Adventures
1. Where is Amami Oshima? Amami Oshima is a subtropical island in southern Japan, located between Kyushu and Okinawa in Kagoshima Prefecture.
2. How do I get to Amami Oshima? Amami Oshima can be reached by direct flights from major Japanese cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Kagoshima. Flights arrive at Amami Airport on the northern side of the island. Ferries also connect Amami with Kagoshima and other islands in the region.
3. Where are your tours based? Amami Adventures is based in the quiet coastal community of Uken Village on the southern side of Amami Oshima. While many experiences take place in this beautiful area, tours are offered across the island depending on the activity.
4. Do I need a car to join the tours? No. Guests can meet at the tour starting point with a rental car, or pick-up and drop-off can be arranged from hotels, the airport, or other locations. Transportation during the tour is provided.
5. Are the tours private? Yes. Amami Adventures specializes in private, small-group eco tours, offering a more personal and authentic way to experience Amami Oshima.
6. What should I bring on a tour? Comfortable walking shoes, water, sun protection, and a sense of adventure. Equipment for each activity is provided, and specific details can be found on the individual tour pages. If you are unsure, feel free to ask when booking.
