Your 3-day journey is led by Matt Pride, a licensed and certified eco-tour guide with over 25 years of experience in Japan.

— Day 1 —
Arrival & Village Welcome

  • Meet your guide and enjoy lunch overlooking the turquoise coast, while discussing the journey ahead.

  • Travel along the coast and through mountains to Uken Village, then check in at log cottages.

  • Wander the local market and harbor, meeting village residents

  • Savor Island-raised pork Shabu-Shabu 

  • Encounter Amami’s rare wildlife on a Night Shrimping or Wildlife Tour.

— Day 2 —
SUP & Snorkel Adventure

  • Paddle through crystal-clear waters passing rugged coastlines and hidden beaches

  • Snorkel among vibrant coral reefs and colorful fish at handpicked spots

  • Dine at a century-old kominka café with fresh, home-grown ingredients

  • Tour the local distillery and taste spirits using Mt. Yuwan spring water, acoustically aged for a unique flavor.

  • Enjoy an evening of Amami culture with food, music, and storytelling.

— Day 3 —
Coastal & Jungle Adventures

Option A: Funakoshi Beach & Takachiho Shrine

  • Snorkel at historic Funakoshi Beach, then enjoy views from Takachiho Shrine.

Option B: River Swim & Snorkel

  • Venture to a hidden lagoon and encounter Amami wildlife, ending at a secluded waterfall.

Option C: Rainforest Trails

  • Hike or eBike jungle trails to hidden waterfalls, caves, and endemic wildlife.

Lunch & Departure

  • Savor a final island meal before a private transfer to Amami Airport.

  • 2 nights accommodation in Yakeuchi no Yado — Log Cottages

Recommended Gear

  • Comfortable walking shoes, outdoor clothing, swimwear for SUP & snorkeling, hat, and sunscreen (rainwear provided if needed)

Difficulty / Physical

  • SUP & Snorkel: Difficulty: Novice — No SUP experience is necessary. Physical: Easy

  • Hiking / eBike Trails: Difficulty: Novice — Easy terrain. Note: Private tours include the option to reach trailheads by eBike, then walk or hike the trails at a comfortable pace
